Course Overview

This qualification is designed to teach the basics of keeping yourself and those around you safe with the Award in Health and Safety for the Workplace. It is for anyone who wants an introduction to health and safety issues or who are entering employment and need health and safety training.          

You'll learn important safety skills like the proper use of protective equipment, the best way to deal with accidents and how to control risks.

You don't need any particular experience or prior qualifications. This qualification is open to students as well as those in the workforce.

Qualification/Course Structure

The course consists of a single mandatory unit:

  • Unit 001: Health & Safety for the Workplace     
  • Understand the principles of workplace Health & Safety       
  • Understand the method and objective of risk assessment    
  • Understand accident and incident investigation and reporting           
  • Understand Health & Safety communication and the environment     
  • Understand common hazards and their control

Training/Study Options

The course is delivered in an intense format with a training day being followed by a knowledge assessment which carries a grading and ultimately leads to the overall qualification.

If you wish to enrol 6 or more learners from a single organisation, we can arrange to come to your own premises to deliver the necessary assessment and training days.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

Good levels of English and Maths would also be desirable.

Training would be delivered within one of our training centres:

  • Rayleigh
  • Chelmsford

It is anticipated that the length of the programme will be 1 days although this depends on the learner’s progress through the course.
