Course Overview
The Certificate in Employability and Personal Development is a qualification that can help you develop key personal skills, qualities and attitudes required by employers as well as to help you progress in education. Depending on the level you take, there are vocational taster units available in various industries.
These qualifications are aimed at anyone wanting to improve their employment prospects, progress in education or live a more independent life.
Qualification/Course Structure
The course consists of 2 mandatory units and a selection of optional units including:
- Unit 401: Planning for progression (MANDATORY)
The aim of this unit is to help the learner to plan for progression by understanding their programme and the facilities and support available and by being able to recognise and build on personal strengths.
- Unit 402: Effective skills, qualities and attitudes for learning and work (MANDATORY)
The aim of this unit is to help the learner to be able to demonstrate positive qualities, attitudes and behaviours for learning and work, and to communicate and work effectively.
- Unit 406: Managing personal finance
The aim of this unit is to help the learner to understand how to manage their personal finances.
- Unit 462: Interview skills
The purpose of this unit is for the learner to acquire good basic communication skills needed for an interview. The learner will also be guided through a post-interview reflection.
- Unit 470: Improving own confidence
This unit introduces the learner to key factors that can contribute to improving their own confidence. The learner will identify aspects of themselves and their lives that instil them with confidence and explore areas where they can develop and thereby increase their confidence. The focus of the unit is how communication skills, decision making and goal/targeting setting can lead to increased confidence.
- Unit 488: Understanding business communication
This unit aims to develop an understanding of the process of an effective communication within a business environment, and the benefits of an effective communication strategy.
Training/Study Options
The course is delivered in an intense format with a number of training days being followed by a series of practical assessment which ultimately lead to the overall qualification.
If you wish to enrol 6 or more learners from a single organisation, we can arrange to come to your own premises to deliver the necessary assessment and training days.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for learners undertaking this qualification however, as a centre, we would need to ensure that the learner has the potential and opportunity to successfully gain the qualification.
Duration of Course & Locations
Training would be delivered within one of our training centres:
- Rayleigh
- Chelmsford
It is anticipated that the length of the programme will be 1 to 2 weeks although this will depend on the learner’s progress through the course.
